The village Malý Slavkov is situated in the centre of the basin Popradská kotlina, approximately 3 km north-westward from the town Kežmarok in a height of 660 metres above sea level. The oldest preserve written record concerning this village is dated to 1275, where Stephen – son of Chene is mentioned. In 1700, the royal town Kežmarok became the owner of Malý Slavkov property. The name of the village was gradually changing throughout history until in 1920. Nowadays, about 900 people live here. First mentions of St. Michael Church are known from1499. After fire at the beginning of 19th century, previous temple was rebuilt in Classicistic style. Later, it was completely pulled down and in 1844-1847 there was built the new brick one in Classicistic style. The church has late-Renaissant relief, the interior is curved by the Prussian vaulting, the facade is Classicisticly modified by the thermal windows and pilasters. There is the statue of St. Michael on the present main altar. Nowadays, renewing of building-up is taking place there. St. Michael Street is an evidence for this. The kindergarten is available in the village. From the services, motorists would welcome the motor-car repair shop and the paint shop. Wood workshop goes well, too. Restaurant, accommodation and catering services are at tourists’ disposal. Closeness of the High Tatras prospers to development of agrotourism and tourist industry.
